Paul earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) – TESOL degree in 1996 from the renowned SIT Graduate Institute (at the time known as the School for International Training), as well as a Clear California Teaching Credential (Adult Education), and a International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Year Program (PYP) Certificate in Teaching and Learning. He is presently in the process of completing a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) with Texas Tech University.

Besides an MAT in TESOL, Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology; an MA in Advanced Japanese Studies, as well as Japanese language and translation certification.

Paul has been teaching for 38 years, since he was 22 and started studying Early Childhood Education.
